Browning Junior College was founded in 1993 by Bro. M.J. Samuel, in partnership with Bro. Don Browning, with a heartfelt mission to provide quality, accessible education to students from underserved communities. Rooted in a spirit of service and compassion, the institution has become a trusted center of learning, especially for students who may not have the means to attend private or corporate colleges.

Bro. Don Browning, a visionary with a generous heart, laid the foundation of the college with a firm belief in nurturing students not just academically, but also physically and socially. Over the past 32 years, Browning Junior College has become a beacon of hope for youth from tribal backgrounds and nearby villages, transforming lives through education. To date, the college has proudly graduated over 9,000 students, many of whom have gone on to serve in vital sectors across the country.

Mrs. Joshi Samuel, with her strong academic expertise in mathematics and science, played a key role in broadening the institution’s offerings. She pioneered the introduction of vocational programs such as Medical Lab Technology (MLT), Multi-Purpose Health Worker (MPHW), Accounting, and Computer Applications, complementing the general academic streams of Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Her commitment helped shape a balanced curriculum that empowers students both academically and professionally.

The college continues to produce well-rounded graduates who have found success as nurses, lab technicians, government school teachers, bankers, police officers, members of the Border Security Force, and professionals in numerous other fields. Browning Junior College remains committed to its founding values: academic excellence, personal discipline, and meaningful contribution to society.

Mr. Johnson Medidi currently leads the institution as the Director. A dynamic and forward-thinking leader, he has introduced a comprehensive three-year Bachelor of Vocational Studies program, aimed at providing practical, career-focused education. These programs—Physiotherapy, Cardiac Care, Hospital Management, and Medical Laboratory Technology—are specially designed for students completing their 12th grade.

Under Mr. Medidi’s guidance, the college has grown in academic rigor, infrastructure, and community impact. With a dedicated team of faculty, the enduring support of board members from the United States, and the grace of God, Browning Junior College continues to move forward—committed to excellence, service, and the transformation of lives through education.
